LODD Memorial Service

James River Bridge

On Sept. 9th 14 members of Station 10 manning E-10, Q-10, R-10, and S-10 went to the 9-11 memorial at the foot of the James River Bridge for the dedication of the Isle of Wight County Line of Duty Death memorial.  This memorial recognizes the first responders in Isle of Wight County who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting their community.  Two of our own were memorialized, JP Memory II and Chief Claude Taylor.  Just after Carrollton units arrived at the event.  E-10, Q-10, and R-10 responded to the 1400 block of Broad Water Arch for a reported oven fire.  R-10 was the first arriving unit and found the fire to be extinguished without extension.  The Rescue was held and the Quint and Engine returned to the service.  As well as members of CVFD, representatives from Isle of Wight Rescue Squad, Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, Smithfield Vol. Fire Dept, and many other members of the committee came to pay their respects to those who have passed protecting Isle of Wight County.
