On Friday April 9 2010, around 1604 hrs CVFD responded to a reported MVC with injuries on Benns Church Blvd near Oliver Drive. Squad-10, Rescue-10 and Chuckatuck VFD Engine-9 arrived on scene to find a southbound vehicle had possibly rolled several times and came to rest overturned near the northbound lane.  Driver of the vehicle was transported to a local Hospital.

On Sunday 28 Mar. 2010 at 1526 hrs CVFD responded to a reported MVC with injuries at the intersection of Carrollton Blvd and Omera Dr.  Arriving units found three vehicles with minor to moderate damage and one patient complaining of knee injury.

On April 29th around 0733 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to an MVA on the James River Bridge.  Units arrived on scene to find two vehicles involved with heave damage.  One patient was transported to a local Emergency Room, scene was turned over to Virginia State Police and after vehicles were removed from the bridge units cleared.

On October 30th around 1631 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to a reported MVA on the James River Bridge in the northbound lanes.  Rescue 10 and Squad 10 arrived on scene with units from Newport News Fire Department.  One patient was transported to a local hospital by Newport News Fire Department.  Rescue 10 and Squad 10 remained on scene until the wrecker arrived. On October 26th at 0135 hrs Station 10 was toned out for a second vehicle accident 9 minutes after we were toned out for a MVA involving an overturned vehicle.  Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle involved that had struck a power pole.  Dominion Power was contacted and on patient was transported to a local Emergency Room. On October 26th at 0126 hrs Station 10 was toned out for a MVA involving an overturned vehicle.  Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle involved patient already out of the vehicle.  Patient refused treatement.

At 1658 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to a MVA at the intersection of Reynolds Dr and Nike Park Rd.  Rescue 10 and Squad 10 arrived on scene to find two vehicles involved.  An additional medic was requested from Station 60 and patients were transported to a local Emergency Room

On September 16th around 1726 hours Station 10 was dispatched to a report of an overturned vehicle at the Intersection of Benns Church Blvd and Brewers Neck Blvd.  Rescue 10, Squad 10 and Car10 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle on its roof all occupants were already out of the vehicle.  Isle of Wight Rescue Squad assisted with the transport of patients.

On August 19th around 1748 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to a report of an overturned vehicle near the James River Bridge on the Isle of Wight side.  Rescue 10 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle involved, driver was already out of the vehicle with no injuries. 

On August 18th around 1818 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to a MVA that involved a Motorcycle.  Rescue 10 & Squad 10 arrived on scene to find a single motorcycle involved; the driver of the Motorcycle was transported to a local emergency room.

On August 16th around 1627 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to a MVA vehicle reported to be overturned.  Rescue 10 & Squad 10 arrived on scene and found two vehicles involved, one of which was on its side.  All occupants of both vehicles were out upon arrival, two patients were transported to a local emergency room.

On Monday, May 12th Station 10 was dispatched to an MVC involving an overturned vehicle.  Units arrived on scene to find a single vehicle involved that was on its roof, occupant of the vehicle was already out.  At the time of the accident no patients were transported all units cleared and returned to quarters.

On February 26th at 1344 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to the northbound lanes of the James River Bridge for a motor vehicle accident.  Squad 10 and Rescue 10 arrived on scene to find four vehicles involved and one patient was pinned.  Patient was extricated and a total of two patients were transported to a local Hospital.  Newport News Fire Department assisted on this call as well. On January 16th at 2209 hrs Station10 was dispatched to the intersection of Reynolds Dr and Nike Park Rd for a motor vehicle accident.  Rescue 10 and Squad 10 arrived on scene to find two vehicles involved with minor damage.  No patients were transported from the scene of this accident.

On December 12th at 1357 hours Station 10 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involved two vehicles.  Units arrived on scene to find two vehicles involved with minor damage, and no one wanted to be transported.  Units cleared at 1414 hrs and returned to quarters. more photos

MVA South Bound JRB

On August 17th at 0723 hours Station 10 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident single vehicle involved overturned that had struck a power pole and VA Dominion Power already on scene.  Squad 10 and Rescue 10 arrived on scene to confirm single vehicle had struck a power pole.  Lt Chapin was already on scene and in command advised he had 1 ALS Trama patient.  Squad 10 transported the patient to a local Emergency Room.  Rescue 10 remained on scene while VA Dominion Power removed the down power line and restored power.  Remaining units cleared and returned to quarters. On August 16th at 1535 hours Station 10 was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.  Rescue 10 and Squad 10 arrived on scene to find Isle of Wight Medic 64 and Zone 60 on scene.  Two Patients from this accident were transported to a local emergency room.  Rescue 10 turned the scene over to Virginia State Police and returned to quarters. At 1659 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.  Units arrived on scene to find two vehicles involved, with one on its side.  Chief Acree arrived and took command of the scene.  1 Patient was treated and transported to a local Emergency Room.  Remaining units on scene helped clean up some of the debris in the road, then cleared and returned to quarters without further incident. At 2147 hours on July 31st, Sta. 10 was dispatched to over turned vehicle in front of the fire station. R-10 & S-10 responded to find a pickup truck that had been towing another vehicle on its side. Both occupants were out of the vehicle with minor medical complaints. 114 T. Nunez established Carrollton Blvd Command advising the same. S-10 transported the 2 stable patients to RRMC while R-10 & E-10 remained on scene controlling hazards and provided lighting until the vehicles were removed from the roadway. On July 15th at 1444 hours Sta.10 was dispatched to a report of two vehicles overturned at 13036 Nike Park Rd. Squad-10 & Rescue-10A responded at 1447. Arriving at 1452, two vehicles with moderate to heavy damage were found with only vehicle having overturned. Patients and occupants were quickly assessed with one patient requiring BLS transport to RRMC and a second person being checked and refusing care. M-61 (Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue) responded to the call as well based on the original comments. Full Story  

On July 13th at 2006 hours as the crew at Sta. 10 was sitting down to a late supper, a walk in advised the crew of a vehicle fire at the Sunoco Station just across the county line in the city of Suffolk. R-10 responded with a full crew, arriving at 2009 to find Suffolk E-5 that had arrived moments before beginning the attack on passenger vehicle with the engine compartment heavily involved in fire. R-10s crew assisted E-5 with extinguishment and overhaul. R-10 cleared at 2029. Full Story

On October 7 just after 1430 hrs we were dispatched to a report of an overturned vehicle just down the street from the station with occupants still in the vehicle.  Rescue 10 and Squad 10 arrived on scene with Lt Matteson in command who advised all occupants were out of the vehicle. Full Story

On October first at 0120 hours, station 10 was dispatched to a 10-50 possible injury involving a motorcycle south bound on the JRB. R-10A & S-10 responded with full crews. Upon arrival at 0125 hours, several vehicles including the motorcycle were found with heavy damage noted. Command was established by 103 (S. Brower). A complete assessment showed two trauma patients, one of which being the rider of the motorcycle. It was also noted that there had actually been two accidents. The first involving the motorcycle and another vehicle that had fled the scene. Several concerned citizens had stopped to render aid to motorcycle operator. While assisting the patient, a pickup truck traveling southbound as well ran into several of the vehicles that had stopped to render aid resulting in what appeared to be a very serious 10-50. NNFD E-3 & M -3 responded southbound but were stuck in the backed up traffic and unable to transport. S-10 transported the worst of the patients while the second patient was stabilized and transferred to NNFD M -7 (proceeded south down the closed northbound lanes). Both patients were taken to Riverside Regional.

On September 16th at 0137 hours Station 10 & 60 were dispatched to a 10-50 on the James River Bridge involving multiple vehicles including a tractor trailer and a person in the water. R-10A responded with 4 techs and 1 FF (103 A.C. Brower on board). Full Story
