On Friday April 9 2010, around 1604 hrs CVFD responded to a reported MVC with injuries on Benns Church Blvd near Oliver Drive. Squad-10, Rescue-10 and Chuckatuck VFD Engine-9 arrived on scene to find a southbound vehicle had possibly rolled several times and came to rest overturned near the northbound lane. Driver of the vehicle was transported to a local Hospital. |

Medic-11 arrived on scene to find a two vehicle collision involving a stopped vehicle that was struck from the rear by a second vehicle. A patient was transported to Riverside Medical Center. |

Patients were transported to a local hospital in Squad 10, Medic 11 and a medic unit from Isle of Wight Rescue Squad. |

On December 31st just prior to midnight Station 10 was dispatched to a MVA vehicle vs deer. Rescue 10 and Squad 10 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle involved that appeared to have been involved in a roll over. Patient was already out of the vehicle upon arrival, the patient was transported to a local Hospital. At 2227 hrs on November 20th Station 10 was dispatched to an auto accident on Brewers Neck Blvd. Units arrived on scene to find two vehicles that had overturned and found pts had been ejected from the vehicles. Witnesses stated the driver of the vehicle was missing and unaccounted for. A primary search of the accident scene was done and found the driver of the vehicle near the wood line. Two trama patients were transported to area Hospitals and a 3rd patient was also transported. More Photos |

On September 27th around 1530hrs a vehicle pulled onto the apron of Sta. 10, the driver advised the crew at the station of a MVA with possible injuries on the South Bound side of the James River Bridge. Rescue 10 and Squad 10 responded to find a pickup truck towing a trailer had run into the back of roll back tow truck that was stopped. Amazingly the driver of the pickup was not only able to remove him self from the vehicle, but was unharmed in the event. On August 17th at 0723 hours Station 10 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident single vehicle involved overturned that had struck a power pole and VA Dominion Power already on scene. Squad 10 and Rescue 10 arrived on scene to confirm single vehicle had struck a power pole. Lt Chapin was already on scene and in command advised he had 1 ALS Trama patient. On August 6, 2007 at 2202 hours Station 10 was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident with one vehicle overturned. Rescue 10 responded with Isle of Wight Medic 61 since Squad 10A was already on another run. On scene units found driver of the vehicle out walking around and refused treatment. Scene was turned over to Virginia State Police, Rescue 10 cleared and returned to quarters while Isle of Wight Medic 61 cleared and took another EMS call in Station 10’s district while Squad 10A was at the hospital. At 2147 hours on July 31st, Sta. 10 was dispatched to over turned vehicle in front of the fire station. R-10 & S-10 responded to find a pickup truck that had been towing another vehicle on its side. Both occupants were out of the vehicle with minor medical complaints. 114 T. Nunez established Carrollton Blvd Command advising the same. S-10 transported the 2 stable patients to RRMC while R-10 & E-10 remained on scene controlling hazards and provided lighting until the vehicles were removed from the roadway. On July 15th at 1444 hours Sta.10 was dispatched to a report of two vehicles overturned at 13036 Nike Park Rd. Squad-10 & Rescue-10A responded at 1447. Arriving at 1452, two vehicles with moderate to heavy damage were found with only vehicle having overturned. On July 13th at 2006 hours as the crew at Sta. 10 was sitting down to a late supper, a walk in advised the crew of a vehicle fire at the Sunoco Station just across the county line in the city of Suffolk. R-10 responded with a full crew, arriving at 2009 to find Suffolk E-5 that had arrived moments before beginning the attack on passenger vehicle with the engine compartment heavily involved in fire. On June 20th at 1722 hours Station 10 was dispatched to an MVA in the southbound lanes on the James River Bridge. Haynes & Smith’s Neck - On January 31st at 0503 Station was dispatched to an MVC head on at Smith’s Neck Road and Haynes Ln. S-10A & R-10A arrived at 0511 to find a two vehicle head on with heavy damage noted on both vehicles. 103 (Asst. Chief S. Brower) established Smith’s Neck Command. Further investigation found one ALS trauma sitting in one vehicle an the driver of the second vehicle out of the vehicle with no complaints. S-10A’s crew handled pt care while R-10's crew handled the hazards and provided scene lighting. All units cleared at 0615. |

22157 Reynolds Dr. - On January 22nd at 0740 Station was dispatched to an MVC over turned at 17155 Riddick Rd. S-10A & R-10 arrived to find a single vehicle overturned with heavy damage. 105 (Capt. J.V. Oliver) Established Riddick Command. Investigation found no occupants in or near the vehicle. A 200 to 300 foot search around the vehicle (due to obvious multiple overturns) also resulted in negative findings. Obvious injuries were noted due to the amount of blood found in and around the vehicle. It was believed that the occupants may have left in another vehicle. Hazards were controlled and all units cleared at 0808 hours. |

| Car Fire | ||||
On Friday, November 10, 2006 1422 hrs Station 10 was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the parking lot beside Williams Auto Mart on Carrollton Blvd. Rescue 10 (Captain Radstatter) responded with 4. A.C. Brower was first on scene reporting a working fire in the engine compartment. Upon Rescue 10’s arrival the fire had made its way to the cabin, Rescue 10’s crew quickly knocked down the fire and overhauled the vehicle. All Carrollton units were cleared within the hour. A.C. | James River Bridge Motor Cycle Accident | ||||
On October first at 0120 hours, station 10 was dispatched to a 10-50 possible injury involving a motorcycle south bound on the JRB. R-10A & S-10 responded with full crews. Upon arrival at 0125 hours, several vehicles including the motorcycle were found with heavy damage noted. Command was established by 103 (S. Brower). A complete assessment showed two trauma patients, one of which being the rider of the motorcycle. It was also noted that there had actually been two accidents. The first involving the motorcycle and another vehicle that had fled the scene. Several concerned citizens had stopped to render aid to motorcycle operator. While assisting the patient, a pickup truck traveling southbound as well ran into several of the vehicles that had stopped to render aid resulting in what appeared to be a very serious 10-50. NNFD E-3 & M -3 responded southbound but were stuck in the backed up traffic and unable to transport. S-10 transported the worst of the patients while the second patient was stabilized and transferred to NNFD M -7 (proceeded south down the closed northbound lanes). Both patients were taken to Riverside Regional. |
