This bicycle "flash mob" which also included 40 support/escort personnel and 25 vehicles descended on Station-10 at 10:14 to use the "facilities" and consume a quick refreshment provided by the LEU support team before departing at 10:29. The LEU 2011 "Road to Hope" ride honors fallen law enforcement officers nationwide to ensure the friends and family of these men and women are provided the necessary support to cope with the loss. This 3 day 240 mile bicycle trek started 0800 today in Chesapeake, Virginia and will end 1500 Thursday 12 May at the US Department of Defense HQ, the Pentagon, Arlington County, Virginia. Riders come from as far away as Albuquerque, New Mexico (see image DSCN5014) and from our own Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Department. Carrollton VFD was presented an LEU Commemorative Coin for display in our trophy case (see image DSCN5031.) This is the 5th year that Carrollton VFD has hosted this event.
