
Unoccupied Home Burns Early New Years Day
Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department responded to its first call of the new year. At 00:43 Station 10 and Station 50 were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 21000 Block of Brewers Neck Blvd in Carrollton. 101 (Chief Nunez) was the first to arrive on scene and reported a residential structure with smoke and heavy fire showing through the roof. Engine 10 arrived and stretched a line to make an interior attack. Engine 51 arrived and stretched a second line to the rear of the home. Crews were pulled out the home due to roof collapse. Ladder 10 was set up for defensive operations. A demo contractor was requested to assist with removing of derbies to access the fire under contents.
The occupants were not home during the incident. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury and was released on scene.
City of Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue assisted with station Backfills.
All units clear and back in service by 6:00am.
